On Christmas Day, 2021, after years of anticipation, NASA's next Great Observatory, JWST, was launched to join the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) in our exploration of the Cosmos.  JWST adds the ability to obtain critically-important high-resolution, high sensitivity infrared observations to HST's high-resolution, high-sensitivity ultraviolet/optical observations and together they will provide an unrivaled multi-wavelength, high-definition view of objects across the sky and across time itself.  JWST will search for "first light", faint light from the very first stars and galaxies to form in the Universe, that has been shifted far into the infrared, and extend our reach to the dawn of visible structure in our Universe.
